Hiding Veggies: Cauliflower

tales from the dad side - mashed cauliflower

It’s a struggle to get my kids to eat their veggies. That’s a struggle that I know a lot of parents go through. My oldest dislikes veggies in general. If absolutely forced to eat a vegetable he may resort to putting as small a piece as he can in his mouth and then swallowing it with some water, like a pill. My middle child will eat some veggies. Spinach usually isn’t a problem, carrots if they’re raw, sometimes broccoli. The toddler is still pretty good about eating the vegetables I…

Flu Shot Follies

Yesterday I loaded the toddler into the car, picked up the kids from school, and headed to the pediatrician for annual checkups! What fun! We moved when my oldest turned 1, but the doctor is so good we’ve kept going back to her rather than find someone closer.) It’s also fall, which…

Dissolving the Dad Bod, part 1

Dad Bod Are you familiar with the term dad bod? According to Urban Dictionary a dad bod is “A guy who has kids and was once in shape and still has guns that can crush beer cans but also with a belly that says I drank those beers and I can eat 6 slices of pizza in one seating.” That’s basically me, accept maybe without the guns that could crush beer cans. Oh the Horror! Head Lice Prevention Made Easy

Tales from the Dad Side - Head Lice Prevention

A few days before Christmas I was off from work and standing around in the kitchen with my kids and somehow we got on the subject of lice and I asked if the kids had been checked at school recently. I grew up thinking head lice prevention was a regular part of the school day, but either it isn’t any more or it isn’t in my kids’ school district. I don’t know about you,…
