My wife and I are always on the lookout for some great food that is not only great tasting, but also isn’t loaded with a bunch of sugar and other preservatives that are not good for you. You know what I mean… the food that can help contribute to Type 2 Diabetes! One day, while scanning the net for some dinner ideas, I found a recipe for Zesty Italian Dressing and Marinade that looked really good. I decided to edit the recipe a bit to fit what I like and came up with the following delicious Italian Dressing recipe.

Garbage Free Italian Dressing


6 tablespoons Avocado Oil (you can also use olive oil)
1 ½ tablespoons white vinegar
2 tsp dried parsley
2 tsp fresh lemon juice
½ tsp honey (you can use Blue Agave too, but less good for you) purchased locally
½ tsp mustard (mustard is optional but I use it and choose to use stone ground mustard)
1 garlic clove, minced
1 teaspoon dried basil, crumbled
Pinch of dried oregano
A dash of salt and black pepper


Pour the Avocado oil into your salad dressing shaker (or if you prefer glass we recommend this shaker instead) and then add the rest of the ingredients and mix well. Refrigerate to help thicken the oil. Mix well before each use.

Everyone in my family loves this Italian dressing and as a parent, I feel good about giving it to my kids as well as consuming it myself! I am not sure how long this will last in the fridge, because it always goes too fast. However, I assume it should last for quite awhile as long as it remains refrigerated.
